There is a $2 off Prep H coupon from Pfizer out but warning from past experience since this is not from Coupons.com or Smartsource, it will be a beeper.  So its really up to your store rep to decide whether or not they will honor the coupon.  But if they did take it, it would make Prep H a $2 money maker.  If your gonna go for it , print the coupon ASAP because as the deal gets closer coupons will run out!

Less than 3 months to Christmas

It just hit me... man September is almost over which means inevitably .. THE HOLIDAYS are coming!  As a kid, I loved them because it would mean parties and presents.  But now as an adult, I know better it means entertaining, lots of meaningless social gestures of ridiculous gifts and BILLS.  Don't get me wrong, I do love the Holidays... mostly the free stuff: like wrapping gifts, listening to Holiday music, baking with my younger relatives, eating, cooking and gathering..... I just wish it would be less superficial.

If hadn't been so lazy, all year long I should have been stockpiling gifts.  Buying thoughtful things when I catch them on sale versus the ridiculous Holiday Rush.  Well I'm going to start planning again.  This year like last year, I think I'm going to do a lot of homemade or gift basket like things.  I was a little pissed last year by how the NYC teenagers I had to buy for reacted to my gifts.  Like seriously its a recession and their expecting a $50-$100 gesture in gifts from me!! They all have IPhones and I have a prepaid phone, like seriously messed up.  Whatever, this year the teens are getting the least thought from me that's for sure.

I'm thinking SWAGBUCKS for them.  So that means I better get on it.  I love Swagbucks because I love getting the Amazon eGift Cards. It's by far the best deal for your points too. There's just so much stuff you can get on Amazon and I can stack my eGift Cards which is just lovely.  But the catch is redeeming typically takes a week, so once you get enough points you want to get the redemption right away.  On average, with not much time devotion I average two $5 gift cards a month.

My other option is Physical Gift Cards.  Personally, I've always felt them to be cold.  But with all my Teen Recipients and their parents.. I think their so shallow that'd they'd be happier to see the dollar equivalent of how much I spent on their children.  So I might go with Gift Cards and hold off on redeeming my Amazon Cards for a while.

OMG LOCK and LOCK deal!!!

Okay, so I love I mean LOVE "Lock and Lock" they are why I can bring lunch and coffee to work everyday.  It does not leak and it kind of locks in smells too when you close it. One of reasons, I hated bring lunch in past was leakage, nothing worse than having your lunch spill in your bag or having to wrap it in plastic bag in case it did leak. This is a commuters dream product.  Their super cool to because you can get amazing shapes and sizes.  Meaning its super awesome way to organize leftovers and keep foods fresher.  The best thing is for salads they have really small containers and big containers with dividers.  It's environmentally friendly BPA  free, microwaveable stuff.

My favorite product from them , because it feeds me coffee and saves me tons of money is

As long as the catch doesn't get caught in something and open,  it is super leak free.  I had a friend who even used it as a heated compress lol.  And right now its $2.59 on website.   Ekk so excited, they ran out of these in the Korean Supermarket and I was afraid they discontinued it, I'm going to buying a lot of these babies !!!
Note : NO free shipping though. And Voucher will hit your account around 9/30.

P&G coupon booklet coming

For those of you in NYC, you probably don't have to buy the paper just check your doorstep whenever you get your normal advertisements for me its Thursdays so Sept 29 . P&G is coming hopefully!! Definately stock up, remember the rebate that ends at the end of October..I'm giddy with couponing excitement.. For the newbies, P&G inserts most of the time are like gold, the coupons match a lot of sales!

$2 off Organic Girl Coupon

Ekk so excited, that there's going to be another great coupon for potential Whole Foods buy with my Groupon. Catch is that item must be at least $2 but still great deal. I've been meaning to start a diet anyways so this would be great way to build a salad.

Mail Call

I love getting stuff in the mail, the best thing about getting those free samples is sometimes they even come with coupons!

It was great Kashi gave me sample of their TLC bars and a coupon for $1.50 off any 1 product.
Milk gave me a $1 off coupon off any Milk, whoppee!

And StriVectin, sent me their Free Sample in padded envelope.  This company is not stingy at all with their free samples, this came with packaging and all super cute.  I might even save this one for a Christmas Beauty Basket gift!

Rite Aid Run Results 9/25

My Run Results:

GUM Perio Balance 28 ct $24.99 - ($5 MFC and $2 Peelie)
Crest Toothpaste $2.69
Crest Toothpaste $2.69
-----------------------------------
Use$20  Prior Up From Scotts Deal
Sub Total : $3.37 + $2.52 tax
Total OPP: $5.89
New UPs : $25.38
Real Cost: $.51  (because of taxes, the moneymaker on Perio Deal reduced taxes by $2)

I totally missed reporting this PerioBalance Deal freebie.  It is a freebie (not including tax) but it has a high OPP if you don't have prior up rewards.

Heres the Deal:
PerioBalance $24.99
$5 off MFC
makes OPP: 19.99 + tax
You get $20 UP rewards for the deal

Hence Freebie.... Unless you really need this its for GUM health etc, I'd skip it because you have to use a lot of OPP and you'd get back a high value UP reward.  Which could be difficult to roll if you don't have any future big buys the next two weeks at Rite Aid
**In my store it was a great deal because there was a $2 off NOW peelie on the box and my cashier was fine with adding it along with the MFC, which most stores may not do.

Flushing Asian Supermarket Sales

GW Supermarket has some note worthy sales this week.  The top 3 deals are Fri-Sun only.  The Spinach is a pretty big bunch for $.98, great for salads and steamed.
Best deals for me are the bottom two.  $1.58 is definately a great stock up price for Chicken Breast. The Avocado is good deal if your desperate for some Avocado, keep in mind its not Hass Avocado and its probably not ripe yet but still a great deal for Avocado.  Also, GW Supermarket at Regular Price has Whole Wheat Bread for $2.99.  I'm totally thinking you can make a yummi healthy Chicken, Avocado, Tomato, Spinach on Whole Wheat Sandwich with all the above at price much lower than if you went to buy a sandwich.

Other Asian SuperMarkets don't really have any note worthy deals this week.

Western Beef Sales

After doing the Nate Berkus post on Grocery Shopping, I was looking at my Western Beef Sales ad and it was showing some really great deals like they had on the show and some more.  I usually post deals that unfortunately only apply to those who live in outer boroughs because typically in Manhattan Stores don't honor their Borough neighbors sales ads.  But whats great about Western Beef is their Manhattan Sales add is pretty much the same in Queens.  And you don't have to trek to Harlem or Chinatown to get the deal, there's one right in lovely West 16th St.  So this goes to show that even if you live in NYC, you can still get some great grocery deals.

I put the Carolina Rice deal because its about $.30 lb for white rice.  It's a great cheap rice to make Spanish Style Rice, Fried Rice and to use in Casseroles because its a little more dry.  Catch is you have to buy $50 worth of stuff to get the sale price.  Which I think depending on what you need you can totally do.

I also added the OSCAR MYER Turkey Breast for those of you who love Sandwiches because this is also a great sale price for those of you who don't coupon.  It's the same price as BJ's!!

Rite Aid Scott Toilet Paper and Kleenex Tissue Deal

Total OPP (I had $7 in prior ups to Carry Over and only 4 coupons)
$45.30
Total New UP Rewards Earned and not used yet
$20
Final cost accounting new UP Rewards for all the above
$25.50

** Even without my prior ups, the Total Cost of deal including ups would be $32.30 with tax included for all the above!! And accounting for the fact that the lowest price I've ever gotten for larger box of Kleenex is $5.58 for 4 boxes, the cost per 12pk of Toilet Paper is $3.34 or about $.28 a roll.  Which is half the price of the more competitive sales advertised at Grocery Stores and Target.  I was hesistant to do this deal originally because of the high OPP and the fact that I would have to find space but when I crunched the numbers, it was totally worth it for me to do.  Especially given all the crazy economic news I've been reading and the fact I'm seeing rising prices for practically everything.
***Tip:  If you don't have a large space for storing this stuff, get creative.  You can break apart the packaging and put them in corners, under the bed, on top of the toilet, etc.  If you have a couponing buddy, you can split up the deal to reduce your OPP or swap for other things you need.

FYI, today is last day to do this deal you can go to my prior post for more detailed break downs.

Rite Aid Run Report

Look ahead : Rite Aid Deal starting **correction starts Oct 2 -8

These are some great deals coming up.  The Profoot requires a Single Check Rebate which is a great way to turn your ups into cash. Keep in mind only one buy will get you a $3 SCR.  Without coupons it will cost you $.99 for awesome foot pad.  To make this deal even better get the below coupon NOW!! Before it runs out as it usually does closer to the deal.  It will be a coupon for a $1 off making this a freebie.

Profoot Coupon

*You can print two coupons per computer, after first print don't hit back button, go back to coupon page and press print again.

I put the NYQUIL deal in even though its not a freebie because Cold/Flu Season is coming up and you do not want to be unprepared.  If you don't have this in your stockpile already I would add at least one in your stockpile.  Just because if you get sick you'll be too tired to go get it and if you get this even at sale price its pretty costly.

Nate Berkus Show: A Week Worth of Groceries for $10

Gosh, I wished I had the TLC channel.  Nate Berkus had this super great episode on Saving on Fashion, Food and Home Decor.  And they put a really useful clip up of the one of the KrazyCouponLadies buying a  week worth of groceries for $10.  I was a little skeptical about the budget because NYC is more difficult to get those crazy grocery deals than the Midwest but after watching the clip, I think its some what doable for New Yorker's cooking for two people.

Tips from the clip:

  • Tuna is cheap protein, she got hers for $.50 buy waiting for a sale and then using a coupon.

*Normally, in NYC your not going to find a good coupon for Tuna its rare.  But we do have occasional sales at Grocery stores, and surprisingly Drug Stores one that stands out is CVS.

  • Pasta ..wait for good sale and match your coupons to them. She got hers for $.25.

*This is very true even in NYC you just have to wait for the right sale.  Right now, even Whole Foods offers the opportunity to buy Pasta at $.50 with coupons.

  • Buy whole chicken because its much cheaper, and you get a lot more for your money.  Not to mention you can use the bones for Chicken Stock.

*This works if you can buy it on a good sale.  But Chicken Breast goes on sale more often so might not be worth the extra work.

  • Buy your Grocery Staples like eggs and milk from convenience store because these stores will make them doorbuster deals for you to enter the store.

*Ocassionally, Grocery Stores will have sales on eggs.  But its more likely Target, Drugstores and Ethnic Grocery Stores will have more sales or all around cheaper prices.

  • Buy Fresh Veggies, Herbs in small amounts from Farmers Market and Grocery Store.

*NY Farmers markets are super expensive. But ethnic Grocery Stores are great sources for cheaper Veggies.

  • Potatoes are cheap, she got a 5lb bag without coupons for $1.

*$1.50 is about as low as I've ever found it.

  • Look out for Weekend Doorbuster Sales (Fri-Sun) for some great deals
So very true!  Get there early if your going for Doorbusters because these sales don't do rain checks.

Conclusion
If you get creative with where you shop, like turning to great dollar stores like Cheap Jacks this task is doable.  You can regularly find bottled peppers for $.99 there and breads at $1.29.  The thing to remember is that this was a segment to meet a one time $10 budget. We are not on a one week $10 deadline.  I personally would never buy a little bit of rice, when buying a big bag is so so much cheaper.  Depending on your lifestyle, you have many days to shop to build a pantry and find good deals.  And what I liked about a lot of the items is most of the times you can buy in bulk and have long shelf life.

Whole Foods Deal

So disappointed, Pathmark is not doing double coupons this weekend.  On the bright side, I still have my $20 credit for Whole Foods.  To be honest its been ages since I've stepped into this store because it used to be super expensive.  But now they allow you to stack MFC's and their own web site coupons.  Which can make for some good deals given right coupons.  So I went to the krazycoupon ladies for help, since I have not idea what current day prices are like.  And I really liked the below deals, perfect for building stockpile of PASTA and Tomato Sauce!

DeBoles Pasta $1.50
Use $1.00/1 – DeBoles Pasta, Any – (wholefoods.com)
Final Price:  $0.50

Muir Glen Tomatoes, 28 oz $1.50
Use $1.00/2 Muir Glen Tomatoes Peelie (found on some cans)
And Use $1.00/2 Muir Glen Products, Any – (wholefoods.com)
Final Price:  $0.50 each when you buy 2

High Value Coupons Alert

Hey if you go to Coupons.com under personal care there are some High Value coupons to save for a potential sale.  I'm eyeing specifically the Schick coupons since there $5 off and there if those razors are included the upcoming CVS sale, it would make the razors free!  Otherwise $4 off 2 boxes of tampons, thats pretty darn good !

Tip: Print the coupons from your Swagbucks account and you'll get 10 Swagbucks for each coupon you redeem.

Reminder Neutrogena Rebate buys ends 9/28

For those of you who might plan on doing Neutrogena Rebate Offer, I found some awesome deals at CVS staring 9/25.  If you still have your coupons, this might be good time to use them for the offer.  Me specifically I'm eyeing the $10 ECB offer for the Microdermabrasion Kit and Refills. This is perfect timing for the free contacts deal , since the Eye Cream is on sale for $17.

Note: all these look ahead deals, you want to make sure the day of your CVS has them because CVS sales vary greatly by store.

Look ahead CVS 9/25 to 10/1 Food Staples and Freebie

Potential idea for what to spend $7 ECB's on is this Gallon Milk deal, there's a limit of 2.  And in NY food has no tax, so you can get free contact solution (OPP 6.99) and buy 2 gallons of milk with your $7 ECB's from contact solution deal and only pay additional $.78 OPP and get another $2 in ECB's to roll over.  I suggest milk because for most people its a Staple Food, that you'd have to spend money on anyway.

Or if you can't drink that much milk and you don't want to freeze excess, you can buy some tuna.  Most have expiration date of at last 2 years.

Lastly so you get more bang for your buck, before doing the Contact Deal you can do this Freebie deal for Thermacare and roll the ECB to the higher costing Contact Solution deal.  But I put this last because most people don't use Thermacare and this will have sales tax attached.

Yeah Sept 25, is looking real good right now.
Thank you rydergirl@slickdeals for the ad preview!

CVS Beverage or Candy Update

Whopee so I got my coupon in my email inbox and its $2 off any drink or candy! You do have to use it by September 22.  But a freebie is a freebie :)

Look ahead CVS 9/25 to 10/1

EKK!!! So I might acutally be tempted to take bus to my nearest CVS that week because there's a freebie after ECB's for contact solution!! If you have contact wearers in your household, you know this stuff is expensive and unavoidable.  So go print the coupon with link below for the SENSITIVE kind to save it for this deal.

Scenario:

$8.99
get $7 ECB reward
use $2 off MFC
get free after ECB!!
Total OPP will be $6.99
Con : is you have a couple weeks to use the $7 ECB, so it would be great if you had a deal you can do for second transaction that same day.  I'm gonna go look and keep you all posted.

Mid September Results

I'm happy with my numbers total $140.24 spent but as I said in my last couple posts, my frozen food stockpile is almost running out. I know I've been kinda lazy with my food posts, but I acutally eat pretty healthy so buying veggies later on will increase my totals up. Right now its still good because my green thumb co-worker has bringing cucumbers, peppers and tomato's and I still have a little basil growing along with my hycinyth beans.  Kinda annoyed with myself about the fact that my Cig's cost me about 4 times my food.  It's been so hard to quit with my job being so freaking stressful, but the two cartons will help me not buy any for a while.  I'm kinda surprised at my numbers though because I went out a lot this period went to the movies twice, ate out 3 times and shopped a lot.  But the trick is Groupon and Living Social if you use it right, literally makes these days out supper cheap.  I even had coupons for free chicken mcnuggets :)

I really didn't have much free time to work on my side money side because I was pretty dead tired from work.  Okay, here's the deal if your lucky and can work overtime do so.  It's important to remember that while getting freebies and great savings is great for reducing the money you spend and thereby increasing the amount of cash in your wallet ...your time has value too.  The beauty about saving money, is its not like they tax you on it like additional income. And if you have the free time do it, but don't go spending $10 on gas to get only one free tooth paste.  I personally would if I had an unlimited Metrocard to burn because well I just hate the MTA.  If your a former shopaholic like me and couponing helps you save money and calm your shopaholic tendencies then yeah go for it.  I also turn it to a mini-work out.  Normally, I would have spent my weekends mostly over sleeping and vegetating, obviously walking and couponing is a much better way to spend my time. It was also much easier to coupon at my last job because my time was worth barely much when you compared what I got paid an hour for.  So for each individual how extreme you go is really dependent on your personal situation.  Either way, I will say that this is getting much easier for me to do.  I think the key is that if you are changing your habits it will take time to develop new habits and get used to it.
For me extreme was the way to go, but if you have a different personality try a little every month and keep adding to it.

Goal for next pay period: Keep my food costs down, Bring my Money Makers up, Find good short term investment
Total Amount to Send to Allied Bank: $ 1338.76
Total Saved so Far: $ 4231.72
7 more Paychecks to Go!

Black Beans and Rice

I ‘m just fascinated by how Europeans can eat just Beans and Toast and like it. And how the Spanish  can have Rice and Beans as their diet staple.   I’ll admit that when I first tried my cooked just plain non flavored beans and rice, it was really hard to stomach.  But when I tried the dish at a Spanish Restaurant it totally tasted different.  Hence, my quest to find a low fat, tasty rice and beans recipe.  I’ve figured out that although it looks like just plain non flavored rice and beans, it’s actually richly flavored by the way they prepare the beans.

I found out the Brazilians boil their beans in a stock of Ham Bones and Bay Leaves.  Giving it a layer of awesome flavor without adding a ton of fat.  Since I have no idea where to get Ham Bones and I didn’t want to actually go out and buy something new, I experimented with long forgotten ham I had in my freezer.  So what I did was tossed in the whole slices of HAM that I wasn’t sure if was still good enough to eat in salted water and put on low flame to boil with my dry beans.  And I just improvised on a substitute for Bay Leaves, with Chives and Basil and some Adobo.  After a half an hour, my pot smelled like HAM.  And the final result was a more flavored Black Bean.

But still not enough for me to be able to eat just Black Beans and Rice as a whole entrée.  So I took it further and sautéed it with Garlic and Unions.  It was better but still not enough for my tastes.

Then I found a version we’re they sautéed with Suffrito.  Which is combo of garlic, union, peppers, (sometimes tomato paste) and Sazon (Spanish Style MSG).  The final verdict, I was able to eat a whole bowl of rice with this version without the Sazon and not need meat!

Conclusion: This was a super filling, low fat alternative for a meatless dinner.  Usually lots of meatless meals add a ton of cheese.  Which is not only expensive but super unhealthy and fatty.  Literally a bowl of white rice costs about $.25 if you get a big 25lb bag for about $15 mid-price level (you can get it much lower on sale) and I barely used my huge batch of beans, and all the other things for the suffrito were from my freezer stock pile of $1 bags I got from Chinese Grocery Store.  Being generous, one healthy and filling meal cost about $.50.

Look ahead : Rite Aid Deal Starting Sept 25 to Oct 1

I'm obsessed with wrinkle cream and so I was psyched to see this Olay Deal coming up just in time for the P&G Breast Cancer Rebate offer. The Regenerist Cream pictured is one of my favorites and makes a lot of beauty top lists.  To do the Rebate you need to buy $50 worth of listed stuff (before coupons) and then you'll get $10 back and another $10 to charity.  If I did this deal I'd only have $6 to go to meet the requirement.  Based on past rebates, I was able to submit for the Rite Aid $10 rebate and P&G no issues.  So basically I'd be initially spending $44, getting $10 from Rite Aid back making the cost $34.  But if I were to submit for rebate I'd even get more money back.  The key is the $6 more of stuff I'd need to buy to meet the requirement.  If the upcoming P&G coupon booklet has great deals hopefully, I can get the rest of the stuff for almost free.  There by making everything have a final cost of $24!!

Ellios Pizza Deal and Breakfast Idea

For those of you new to couponing, who are not super health conscious and who grabbed the 9/18 coupon inserts.  The Smart Source (SS 9/18) has a $1 off wyb 3, Ellios Frozen Pizzas.  Each box has 9 palm size pizza’s which is a perfect size for one serving of breakfast. If you go to Waldbaum’s or Pathmark this week they have one box on sale for $1.99.  If you buy 3, ($5.97-$1 MFC), you’ll pay $4.97 or $1.66 a box  or $.19 a slice.  You can make yourself Breakfast Pizzas.  You can prepare your topping of herbs, eggs and blackbeans since the pizza already has your expensive ingredients cheese, dough, and tomato.  You probably can stretch enough to cover all 27 slices with 9 eggs if you add beans.  Depending how much you can get your eggs and beans for; you can still probably keep each serving cost below $.35 !!!  And have enough breakfast’s for your entire months work week.

Rite Aid Run Report 9/18

Okay so I don't know if its my evil Rite Aid Store but the Sensodyne deal didn't work for me.

But on the plus side, Scott Extra Soft Toilet Paper was included in the $10 up wyb $30 worth of products!!
Which means you can got print the below coupon you just input an email address and it will let you print a coupon for $2 off Extra Soft Toilet Paper.  Limit only 1 print per computer.

Coupon Link

So Here's my Scenario

Sub Total: 27.96
Use $7 prior ups
Total OPP: $ 20.96 + $ 2.84 taxes = 23.80
Got $10 up reward that expires 10/8  !!
With taxes and because I have two computers to print from, my cost per roll of toilet paper is $.4125!!!!!!!! Which is super cheap !

I think I might got back to get $50 worth and get another $10 up.

Second Transaction (so far have tally of $31.96)

Buy 2 Regular 1000 sheet Scotts Toilet Paper 12 pk = 15.98
Buy 2 Kleenex Tissues = $ 4 - ( $1 off VV )

Black Beans Breakfast Idea

So yesterday, I cooked all of the 1lb of Dry Goya Black Beans I got from Target and put some in the freezer and some in the lower fridge to prepare in recipes this week.  I was reading a bunch of food blogs for what to do with them.  And I found this cool idea to mix them with your eggs for breakfast.  Actually, its not completely radical idea a lot of Hispanic countries have eggs with refried beans for breakfast but this was a healthy version.  If you don't fry Black Beans, they're super low calorie and high in protein and fiber.  Which means it will keep you fuller for longer.

My Frugal Low Fat Simple Recipe

Ingredients (3 sandwiches)

Handful of cooked (not dry) Black Beans
2 eggs
Bread Slices (or whatever you have left over for me it was the Pepperidge Farm Whole Wheat Deli Slices)
2 Slices of Cheese (lowfat or whatever you have on hand)
Chives (optional but I still had free ones from Garden)

Directions:
Cut up your herbs and Black Beans and throw in with your egg mixture.  Mix and put all of mixture in oiled heated Omlet Pan.  ** Spread Mixture to whole pan ( you don't need thick layer like with cooked eggs alone) and flip over when first side is semi cooked.  Then top with cheese and turn down heat.  Put cover over pan so your cheese can slowly melt.  Then slice to fit your bread choice and serve. You can also add hot sauce, ketchup, salsa etc to it depending on your tastes.

**This is super healthy and frugal because you really stretch your eggs, the beans bulk up the filling and keep you super full.

***Tip to save time, money and energy, make a big batch and put in Freezer, so you have a instant to go Microwaveable breakfast for your work day.  I only had the two leftover because I wanted to see if I liked the taste.  But next time, I'm going to make big batch.

Because these were all items I made from my stock pile of things I got for dirt cheap or free, the price to make all 3 sandwiches was about $.70!!  Which is about a quarter a pop.

Pro of Batch Cooking your Breakfast:
Don't have to spend mornings on a long line buying breakfast
You know what your putting in your body, versus potentially unsanitary deli's and their reused ingredients
Save money!

Target Price Markdown: GOYA Black Beans

I was at Target today and just randomly glancing at the beans and they had the dry 1lb bag marked to $.76!!!!!!!! I would totally grab some this is lowest price ever, I was just at Pathmark and they were $1.79.

I'm totally going to make me some Tomato Veggie Black Bean Soup yummo!

Rite Aid Deals Starting Tommorrow 9/18

What to do with my $7 in ups that expire at the end of this sale period?? Hmmm the one thing to beware of at Rite Aid is usually when they have a big up reward, the next couple weeks might be slow.

I already posted on the potential Paper Products and Diaper deals.  If you have a baby or baby shower gift to buy for it'd be really great deal. But I already have a pretty big stock pile of toilet paper and all the scenarios I came up with would produce a large Stockpile with great prices but it would generate a large up reward I'd have to use in 2 weeks.  Which could work if I buy the wrinkle cream in next sales period.

My other option is to use it on the Great Sensodyne deals coming up.  But I since my printer is out of ink, and I'm feeling alil lazy to buy ink.. I'm going go to Public Library to return some of my DVDs and print some Video Value Coupons for free.  If you go now before they put up new videos, they have 3 coupons for Sensodyne.  The one I'm interested in is the $4 off 2 products.  I'd have to make sure they match with whats on sale and they also have 2 individual $1.50 off coupons.  And this week's Red Plum ad came with $1 off Sensodyne ISO gel coupons.

Ideal Scenario would be to buy 2 Sensodyne ToothPastes - ($4 off VV + two $1 off MFCs) = 3.98 OPP and get $2 in up rewards.  Making it about $1 each, which is as low as your ever going to find Sensodyne for.

And there two decent food deals going on.

If you want to stock up on Soda for any holiday parties with UP rewards you can get 3 bottles of 7up for  $.72 each with deposit!

And they have the 6 pack of Ramen on sale for $1 which is pretty good but if you need cheap filler this is it.

Flushing Super Market Runs

Just did my Asian SuperMarket Sales review.  Only good deals are at HMART this week.  Some great prices on stuff that your not going to find freebies ever like Brocolli, Cauliflower and Spinach whooppee! Definately great opportunity to stock up on Soup Ingredients 3 bags of Carrots for $1, and I'm not sure if the 5lb of Potates is a better variety than whats on sale at Pathmark for $1.50 but if you don't want to make too many runs this is decent deal.  I'm definately going for the BROWN RICE last time I went it was sold out GRRR $12.99 for 20lbs thats major.   Best part of shopping here on weekends is all the free samples they serve you.

Pathmark Double Coupon Event

OMG! Pathmark is doubling coupons up to $2 again but only in Staten Island Stores this weeks sale cycle only!! You are so lucky if you live in Staten Island, so many freebies wistful sigh.  Gosh really tempted to make trip to Staten Island..

For the rest of us New Yorkers, check your circular my store is doubling upto $.99, which is not really that awesome but hey normally we get nada so better than nothing.  Hopefully they will keep announcing events.

Free Burger King Ice Cream

Hurry New Yorkers, if you live in a neighborhood that distributes free Sales Circulars and Coupons at your doorstep grab it this week. In Queens, on top of the two coupon booklets, they have Burger King Coupons! I'm loving the Free Soft Serve Cone no purchase required Coupon.

My Journey So Far

I'm not going to say that sometimes this journey can't be difficult especially when everyone around me is spending money like water like its constantly going to flow.. But if it weren't for that; I'd say doing this is actually not as hard as I'd thought it would be.  Sure there have been days where'd I go shopping with friends and literally itch to start charging like a mad woman especially when I do finally have some money stashed but..maybe its the more mature me but I've learned to stop and control myself.  I think it has to do with the fact I everyday I do this I keep in mind how fortunate I am and what my real long term goals are and it just helps me stop my self destructive behavior with money.  The way I've managed it.. surprisingly my quality of life has not diminished but my Expenses sure have!!

After reading today about  I really encourage everyone to at least KNOW where there money is.. It's so easy to just want to bury your head in the sand these days when it comes to money but knowing makes you acknowledge whats going on and gives you the foundation to build a plan of attack.  Most books will call it creating your own personal balance sheet of Assets and Liabilities like in investing.  When you look at a companies balance sheet and analyze what it can do better and whether or not you see potential enough for you to want to invest.

I'm not saying go extreme like me, but if you keep track of your every expense for a month, you'll start to see where your wasting your money and maybe maybe do something about it.  Start out small like saving $5 a week and put it aside somewhere you won't reach for easily and watch it grow.  And as your saving habits get  easier, you can do a little more and more..

Look ahead : Rite Aid Deal starting Sept 25 to Oct 1

This is an amazing deal for newbies because NO COUPON is required.  You pay $2.69 and get an up reward that you can use for another purchase for $2.69, pay only tax. The limit is 2.  So use this deal to build up our stock pile!

Tip: Buy 2 in two SEPARATE transactions to reduce your OPP.
Remember what I said about P&G coupons and overlap.  Well if your New Yorker, if we do get the anticipated P&G coupon booklet for free on our doorsteps its usually Weds-Friday depending on your neighborhood.  There maybe a few day overlap from this sale to when the Oct P&G coupons officially come out on Oct2.  If you can get yours before this sale ends and there's a Crest Coupon which always happens then you have yourself a money maker!  Assuming your Rite Aid is up to date with its stock.

Thanks to iheartriteaid for the preview!

Jamba Juice Coupons

I love Jamba Juice!!!! But I only buy it these days when there's a sale or promotion.  They use real fruits and you can see it being made in your face.  So if your a New Yorker this is a great coupon to get for those days your hanging out in the city and need a drink/snack for cheap.  Last time, we were in the city my friend had to spend $1.50 for soda !! Ridiculous right but thats NYC for you.  So $2 but for something filling and healthy is a pretty great thing :)

Today's society, its more acceptable to be a beggar than a frugal person

FALLING OUT OF THE MIDDLE CLASS: A Statistical Look At The People Who Have Lost The Most

Reduce your own living standards. The net effect of falling incomes for many people is a lower standard of living, which can be characterized in many ways: More work, more stress, less money, less free time, less stuff, and falling satisfaction. But a lower standard of living doesn't need to be disastrous, and many people make the mistake of clinging to every gizmo, convenience, and club membership they've ever enjoyed, as if entitled to such things in perpetuity. Better to get rid of unneeded appurtenances on your own, while you have some choice about how to spend your money.
A lot of people have found that simpler living is a luxury in itself, especially if it eases the anxiety that comes with paying dozens of bills each month or being in debt. A lot of things that technically represent a "lower standard of living"--an older car, a smaller house, fewer restaurant meals--don't really change our lifestyles all that much. Forcing yourself to adjust to minor changes before it's absolutely necessary enhances self-sufficiency and makes cutbacks easier to swallow when there's no choice. But if you do it on your own, you might just avoid the squeeze altogether.
